This CUPE 35 union position, under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Parks and Forestry, the Urban Forester is responsible for the coordination and implementation of City wide forestry maintenance functions and forestry related duties on City boulevards, City parks, ravines, wood lots and green spaces.

Diploma in Urban Forestry or comparable specialization from a recognized institution combined with three (3) years directly related experience. ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified and chainsaw certification is required. Standard First Aid and CPR is required. A certificate in the Trade of Arborist (Provincial designation) would be an asset. Must have or obtain Forestry and Landscape Exterminator Licences. Candidates must be knowledgeable in current accepted industry practices and able to work in varying climate conditions. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written, time management and public relations skills, flexibility in adjusting between a variety of duties and ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team in addition to possessing an understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Highway Traffic Act. Must possess a valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s license.
$29.79 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit plan
