Administrative offices for the parent company are in Montreal, Canada and for the Plant Care business unit in Toulouse, France.



Qualifications

Main functions
Reporting to the Technical Director of Speciality Agriculture and Forestry of Lallemand Plant Care, you will co-ordinate research within the urban forestry and nursery markets and be responsible for independently executing, troubleshooting and optimizing field-based research trials related to product positioning and commercialization using biological insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and plant stimulants based on beneficial fungi, bacteria, yeast and plant stimulating extracts.
Task associated with this position also include to, but may not be limited to:

 Technical skills, know-how and influence will be required to identify product positioning and value within key urban forestry markets
 Having a good understanding of the urban forestry and/or nursery market needs, pests and challenges
 Contributing to the technical marketing and commercialization strategy of our urban forestry product portfolio
 Performing product implementation field trials: in-house, with growers, key influencers, municipalities, nurseries or third party-contractors
 Developing and/or modifying experimental protocols as needed, from literature reviews, consultation with other scientists etc.
 Having knowledge of and executing statistical data analyses
 Providing technical support to the commercial team via presentations, meetings, reports and information “hand overs”
 Providing technical support to the municipal customers, growers, stakeholders, research institutes and/or large audiences via presentations, meetings and reports
 Acting as a technical ambassador for Lallemand products in the market
 Being proactive in initiating communication with the commercial team, and other required staff and business units, key influencers and growers as needed to coordinate project activities effectively
 Generating oral and written reports as necessary to summarize field trial results and activities
 Developing data that can be used to generate marketing related materials and confidence in product position and value
 Attending and present necessary urban forestry and/or nursery conferences and expos in order to maintain network and skills development
 Providing strategic recommendations and observations to management and staff on results of projects/tasks
 Engaging with academic institutions to collaborate in research

Required qualifications
Technical skills

 Master’s Degree in Forestry, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology and/or a related field
 3-5 years’ experience in forestry or forestry-related research and/or market related science and practices
 A demonstrated ability to design experiments and do careful and meticulous experimentation
 A demonstrated understanding of current arboriculture practices, insecticide use, and/or herbicide use, vegetation management and/or products used in growth promotion of plants in an urban setting
 Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data sets and critically evaluate scientific research results
 Sound knowledge surrounding pests, pathogens, abiotic stressors in urban forestry settings
 Superior organizational skills to use time productively, maximize efficiencies, and meet deadlines
 Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience in writing comprehensive reports, and proposals
 Proficiency in statistical data analyses using software packages
 Certified professional agronomist [CP. Ag] or registered professional forester [RPF] designation are considered beneficial
 Field work is required and can be physically demanding, applicants should have the capacity to lift more than 25 pounds



Education/Assets/Other

 Master’s Degree in Forestry, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology and/or a related field
 3-5 years’ experience in forestry or forestry-related research and/or market related science and practices
 Certified professional agronomist [CP. Ag] or registered professional forester [RPF] designation are considered beneficial

Pay/Benefits

Salary offered: commensurate with experience; successful applicant will be eligible to participate in retirement, health insurance and other benefit programs offered
