This FREE Webinar from the Canadian Tree Fund (CTF) will discuss Vineland's Greening the Landscape Research Consortium.

Multiple players are involved in the 10+ year cycle before a tree is ready for sale. The “tree chain of custody” involves complex procurement, low bid tendering, planting by third parties and a marketplace influenced by species-specific trends. How can the supply chain meet the heightened demand for urban tree planting? How can individual players do what’s best for their local environment? This webinar will share the innovative approach of the new ‘Greening the Landscape Consortium’, a collaborative group of municipalities, researchers, contractors, nurseries, non-profits, and suppliers, who work together to improve our urban forest canopies using an integrative interdisciplinary approach. The three pillars of this new approach will be discussed including 1) Information sharing for evidenced-based practice 2) New approaches for enhanced decision-making and 3) Developing tools for monitoring and evaluating new practices.

Our speaker Dr. Rhoda deJonge is the Director of the Plant Responses and the Environment program at Vineland. She is also the Lead of the Greening the Landscape Research Consortium. Rhoda completed her PhD at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Forestry, and has experience working in industry, academia, government, and non-profit sectors. 1 ISA CEU is available for attending live!
